Waiting on Wednesday [58] - The Iron Thorn

In the city of Lovecraft, the Proctors rule and a great Engine turns below the streets, grinding any resistance to their order to dust. The necrovirus is blamed for Lovecraft's epidemic of madness, for the strange and eldritch creatures that roam the streets after dark, and for everything that the city leaders deem Heretical—born of the belief in magic and witchcraft. And for Aoife Grayson, her time is growing shorter by the day.
Aoife Grayson's family is unique, in the worst way—every one of them, including her mother and her elder brother Conrad, has gone mad on their 16th birthday. And now, a ward of the state, and one of the only female students at the School of Engines, she is trying to pretend that her fate can be different.

Reason: I thought it would be pretty cool to keep with the "Iron" theme since last week's choice was THE IRON WITCH by Karen Mahoney. (Just keep in mind that the two books have nothing to do with each other but the word "iron" in their title.) I haven't read anything by Kittredge yet but I've heard her books are pretty great. I really like the sound of THE IRON THORN. It definitely has a lot going on that piques my curiosity.

Cover Discussion: Very dark and yet extremeley eye-catching. The font choice, layout, and color looks great against the cover model and dark back-drop. It compliments the dark mood that the synopsis sets for the novel extremely well.

The Iron Thorn will be released February 22nd!

I'm on the fence, but I will look around for the first one and give it a try. Thanks for the heads up.

Ann Marie - No problem. However the two books have nothing to do with each other. I just thought it was cool that they both had the word "iron" in their titles. Each is a stand alone novel =)
